Parkour in Media
One of the early Parkour developments towards outside viewers was a 2002 BBC commercial done by David Belle, the founder. In the commercial, Belle gets home from work by Parkour by crossing rooftops and instead of the busy streets below. In the same year, David Belle and Sebastian Foucan did a Nike campaign for their line of shoes in the United States.
Sebastian Foucan did a commercial that was aired in the US. The group Yamakasi also did a film that was released in France, but was not released in other countries until later years. Then in 2003, Sebastian Foucan and his friends went to Britain to film Jump London, a BBC documentary. The group stayed there for five weeks to show parkour through London’s most famous buildings. Jump London was not only popular in Britain, but also extremely popular in other countries as well. In 2004 a sequel, Jump Britain was made.
Recently Sebastian Foucan has stared as a stunt man in the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale. David Belle also played a lead role in Banlieue 13, which is widely known for its performance of Parkour. Parkour is just beginning to grow, and it is not doubted that the Parkour in media will greatly increase.
